Financial Literacy For Adults

Individuals and communities are empowered by financial wellness. Our team visits schools and community organizations to offer on-site financial literacy workshops and seminars at no cost. Whether it’s teaching high schoolers the ins and outs of their first checking account, advising first-time homebuyers, or helping plan for retirement, our staff can help our neighbors make the most of their financial future. Our “Preventing Financial Abuse” program was even awarded the CUNA Diamond Award in Educational Excellence.

BALANCE Financial Fitness Program

HVFCU partners with BALANCE, a financial fitness program that helps members manage their finances. BALANCE – free for all members – offers confidential financial counseling as well as online educational modules in both English and Spanish that you can view at your own convenience.

With tuition rates on the rise continually, helping members focus on higher education often becomes helping them determine how they can afford it. Student loans may be helpful, but free money is even better. HVFCU participates in the New York Credit Union Association Annual Scholarship Contest .In 2016, seven HVFCU graduating seniors were awarded scholarships (See photo on right of CEO Mary Madden with our winners). In addition, HVFCU funds scholarships at Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster Community Colleges that are specifically awarded to local students.
