As a financial cooperative, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union's Board of Directors is comprised entirely of volunteers from among our membership. This year, the Nominating Committee has nominated the following five candidates for the three open positions in our Annual Election. Ballots will be sent to eligible voting members in late March. Final election results will be announced at the Annual Meeting on April 30, 2019.
Misty Decker - Nominated by the Nominating Committee
Present & Past Work Experience: IBM Corporation, Program Director - zSystems Academic Initiative. Previously Program Manager - STG University Alliances, Development Manager -zSeries I/O Firmware, and Project Manager - zSeries Customer Satisfaction. Various technical positions within IBM.
Education: MS Information Systems, Marist College, 1993. BS Mathematics, Virginia Tech, 1991. MS Certificate, Project Management, GWU, 2000. PMI Certification, 2001. IBM Management Training, 2007.
Credit Union Involvement: Member since 1991. Board of Directors since 2010. Led a special project to ensure processes are in place to constantly assess member needs and measuring how those needs are met. Chair of Policy and Governance Committee since 2012 leading a multi-year review and update of every credit union policy completed in 2017. Have utilized a variety of savings and loan accounts.
Civic Involvement: HVFCU Board of Directors since 2010. Capella Festiva Chamber Choir since 1991. Communications Officer for Rhinebeck Rheinbach Exchange Program. STEM education events at local schools and library.
Nancy Boehm - Nominated by the Nominating Committee
Present and Past Work Experience: Chief Information & Operating Officer, Commercial Banking and Treasury Operations, CIT Bank, NA 2007 to November 2018. Chief Operating Officer & Director - Citigroup Trust, Global Wealth Management from 2003-2007. Additional positions held with Nextgen Technology PTE. Ltd, Deutsche Asset Management (Asia) Ltd., Bank of Bermuda, Citibank, and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Education: MBA International Finance & Economics, Fordham University. Bachelor of Accountancy, George Washington University.
Credit Union Involvement: Member since 2009, using several savings and loan products.
Civic Involvement: Current: Advisory Board, Hudson Union Society. Grolier Club, Council Member and member of Audit and Finance Committees. Past: Clinton Community Library, Board of Trustees. Town of Clinton; Women's World Bank Leaders Program - New York, NY. CISV International, Treasurer NY Chapter.
Mike Young - Nominated by the Nominating Committee
Present & Past Work Experience: IBM employee since 2005. Current position: IBM Z and LinuxONE Offering Manager - Government Industry, managing industry solutions for the Public Sector market on IBM's mainframe platforms. Previous positions: Manager of z/OS Filesystems Development and z/OS Service. Co-Chair of MHV Out@IBM - IBM's LGBT+ Business Resource Group.
Education: BS Computer Science with Honors, Pennsylvania State University. Minor in Business. Several courses from the NY State Comptroller Academy for Local Officials on Finance and Accounting. Ongoing HVFCU and NAFCU training for Supervisory Committees.
Credit Union Involvement: Five year volunteer with the credit union: currently member of the supervisory committee. Formerly Member of the VISTA New Technology Task Force; Member of the Policy and Governance Committee. Currently uses a variety of savings and loan products.
Civic Involvement: Currently: Member of the City of Poughkeepsie Waterfront Advisory Committee. Formerly: Member of the Poughkeepsie City Council; Ranking Member of the City of Poughkeepsie Finance Committee, overseeing two $90M+ budgets restoring the city from deficit spending and stabilizing its credit rating; Member of the Dutchess County Criminal Justice Council; Interim Treasurer and Member of the City of Poughkeepsie Democratic Committee.
Randolph Becker - Nominated by the Nominating Committee
Present & Past Work Experience: Executive Director, Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP since 2015. Previous positions include Director of Administration, Bingham McCutchen LLP; Regional Director, Dorsey & Whitney LLP; Manager of Reporting & Budgeting, Clifford Chance US LLP; and Chief Financial Officer, Hall Dickler (HDKG&W) LLP.
Education: MBA in Controllership Accounting, St. John's University. BBA in Accounting, Siena College.
Credit Union Involvement: Member since 1993, using various savings and loan products.
Civic Involvement: Eagle Scout - Civic Center Project 1973.
Marianne Collins - Nominated by the Nominating Committee
Present & Past Work Experience: Dean of Advancement and Continuing Education at SUNY Ulster (Retired 2015). Led and supervised the College Foundation and all the programs and initiatives of the Continuing and Professional Education Division including the Small Business Development Center. As Chief Advancement and Government Relations Officer, served as a member of the president's executive staff. Previously, Governor's Mid-Hudson Regional Representative, coordinating NYS's response to the IBM downsizing in the early 1990's; Director of Individual Giving at SUNY New Paltz; grantwriting/development consultant for not for profit corporations; and Executive Director of Creative Music Foundation.
Education: BS Political Science, SUNY College at Buffalo. Postgraduate study at Hamilton University.
Credit Union Involvement: HVFCU Director since 2016. Member of Policy Committee and ad hoc Strategic Planning Committee. Served for one year on the Nominating Committee. Attended 2017 and 2018 NAFCU Conferences, attending workshops and classes. Also attended many NYCUA Catskill-Hudson Chapter meetings. Currently utilize several HVFCU savings accounts.
Civic Involvement: Advisory Committee, Girls Leadership Worldwide, a signature program of the Eleanor Roosevelt Center; Honorary Trustee, D and H Canal Historical Society. Served 14 years on SUNY New Paltz College Council, appointed by both Governors Cuomo and Pataki. Served as a Board Member of Family of Woodstock and Ulster County YWCA. Former Trustee of the Woodstock Library and co-chair of the historic Library Fair. Founding member and first Chair of Friends of Hudson Valley Libraries. Served on the Ulster County Charter Commission and Charter Transition Committee; the Ulster County Workforce Investment Board, Ulster County BOCES Vo-Tec Committee and the Stewart Airport Noise Abatement Committee.
Nomination by Petition
In addition to the candidates nominated above, any member age 18 or older may petition for a position on the 2019 election ballot. Petition forms are available as of January 4, 2019 by calling 845.463.3011, option 1 ext. 3710. Your completed petition signed by 500 or more current members must be received by 5 pm ET on Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Nominating Committee's post office box. Solicitation of signatures on credit union property is not permitted and will invalidate a petition. Completed petitions will not be accepted at any HVFCU office. No nominations will be permitted from the floor at the Annual Meeting.
