Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union has once again been named a Fit Friendly Workplace by the American Heart Association. Recognized companies must provide documentation showing their programs offer staff physical activity support, increased healthy eating options at work, and physical, nutritional and cultural activities to improve their personal wellness.
“Studies have proven that wellness works,” said Diane Allenbaugh, HVFCU’s Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development. “Supporting a physical activity program in the workplace can increase productivity, reduce absenteeism and turnover, as well as reduce healthcare costs.” One example of HVFCU’s commitment to wellness is the walking trail at each office that has been marked off for staff in the past year. Through staff contests and walking challenges, the credit union helps to promote benefits of added physical activity to the workday, even in small doses.
