Poughkeepsie, NY – November 14, 2008
Members of Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (HVFCU) and other credit unions in the Catskill Hudson Chapter of the Credit Union Association of New York contributed over $4,000 in food and $450 in monetary donations to the Castle Point Veterans Administration Hospital Food Pantry.
The credit unions collected food and money from late October through early November to ensure veterans would have food during the Thanksgiving holiday. Among the other credit unions participating in the program were Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Ulster Federal Credit Union and other local credit unions.
This is the second year the credit unions have conducted this united effort to stock the shelves of the food pantry for veterans who are outpatients of the hospital. There is a dedicated group of volunteers who run the food pantry and once again they were extremely appreciative and overwhelmed with such a large donation.
HVFCU is a community chartered credit union offering personal financial services to more than 200,000 members. The credit union has about $2.5 billion in assets. HVFCU currently serves its members through 16 branch locations in Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange Counties, four Dutchess County IBM branches, a nationwide network of nearly 70,000 surcharge-free ATMs, Internet banking, online bill payment, and 24-hour account access by telephone.
