Poughkeepsie, New York – November 2, 2009
The Community Foundation of Dutchess County announced today that it has opened a charitable fund for HVFCU Financial Services at Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (HVFCU) that will support organizations throughout the Hudson Valley. The HVFCU Financial Services Fund, to be endowed by the Financial Consultants employed by HVFCU Financial Services, will be administered by the Community Foundation of Dutchess County.
Contributions made by the Financial Consultants will be matched by LPL Financial, the broker/dealer for HVFCU Financial Services. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, LPL Financial is one of the nation’s leading diversified financial services companies and the largest independent broker/dealer supporting more than 12,000 financial advisors nationwide.
“We are extremely excited to make the HVFCU Financial Services Fund available,” says Jeff Thatcher, director of HVFCU Financial Services. “Our financial advisors will focus on meeting client’s investment and legacy objectives. In doing so, our clients and the overall community promise to benefit. Teaming with the Community Foundation of Dutchess County was a natural choice because of the outstanding work they have done for so long in the Hudson Valley.”
Since 1969 the mission of the Community Foundation has been to strengthen the community by offering donors the means to establish legacies, by making grants and by providing leadership to address community needs. Comprised of more than 425 separate funds, the Foundation has been a driving philanthropic force in the region, last year providing grants and scholarships valued at more than $1.4 million throughout Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam and surrounding counties. These much-needed resources help community organizations representing a broad and diverse range of issue areas, including the arts, education, community development, conservation, health and human services.
