Poughkeepsie, New York — November 23, 2009
The Castle Point Out Patient Food Pantry is well stocked this week thanks to the generosity of the Catskill-Hudson Chapter of the New York State Credit Union Association. Several credit unions joined forces to deliver food valued at over $3,000 and more than $400 in cash. The food and money was donated by members and employees of the following credit unions: Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union; Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union; and Ulster Federal Credit Union. The drive was conducted in the credit unions’ branch offices from October 5 through November 5, 2009.
Congressman John Hall, who is a member of the House Committee on Veteran Affairs, was at the Castle Point Veteran Hospital on November 9 to witness first hand the delivery of the food boxes and bags generously donated to the volunteer-run food pantry. The donated food is available to registered out-patients of the hospital.
“Credit unions run by the philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and this is just one example of how credit unions are an integrated part of the communities we serve,” says Rick Mantey, CEO of Ulster Federal Credit Union.
